The pain management team in UMMC strive to achieve highest standard of care for adult and paediatric patients presenting with both acute and chronic pain.
We establish an acute pain service team comprise of dedicated nurses and doctors that provide 24 hours, high quality acute pain service to surgical, trauma, and medical patients to alleviate their pain symptoms and reduce their suffering. We provide multimodal analgesia, patient control analgesia, epidural analgesia, regional nerve block with or without catheter among other treatment options to manage patients’ pain and improve their clinical outcomes, minimize complications, and achieve better overall patients’ satisfaction.
Our chronic pain team endorse multidisciplinary approach to manage a variety of chronic pain patients. We offer wide range of treatment modalities, including pharmacological treatment, physiotherapy, interventional procedures such as trigger point injection, diagnostic and therapeutic blocks, epidural injection, and radiofrequency ablation, among others, to help patients to control their chronic pain, restore function, and return to their daily activity.
