Prof Marzida

Marzida Mansor obtained her Master in Anaesthesiology from University of Malaya (UM) in 1996 and joined UM as a lecturer in the same year. She did a 6-month cardiac anaesthesia attachment in Institute Jantung Negara Kuala Lumpur in 1997 and completed her Fellowship in Pain Management at The Royal North Shore Hospital, University of Sydney, Australia in 2005.  Now, she is a Professor at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. Her main clinical interests include Cardiac anaesthesia and Pain Management.

In the area of research, she has carried out numerous types of clinical and fundamental research successfully. Her main research interest include research related to improving patient outcomes in cardiac anaesthesia and Pain Management. She has published an article in ‘Reducing Anxiety through Music Therapy for Regional Anaesthesia Cases in Operating Theatre’ and looking forward to conduct more research on music and pain management. She has conducted studies on airway devices, sepsis and audit on morbidity and mortality in anaesthesia. She is also passionate about “Green Anaesthesia” and is a committee member of a group of experts developing a consensus guideline on Sustainable Anaesthesia.

Prof Marzida has special interest in hypnotherapy in pain management. She has completed a Medical Certificate Course in Hypnotherapy and Specialist Medical Module Certificate Course in Hypnoanaesthesia and Hypnosedation at the London College of Clinical Hypnosis International (LCCH International).
