Rafidah Atan is Professor and Intensivist at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. Her PhD research was on extracorporeal cytokine removal in critically ill patients, and its related topics of renal replacement therapy and cytokines in sepsis and shock states. Rafidah is also a Patient Safety enthusiast and has been actively involved in the integration of this important topic in both the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. She is an avid simulationist and has conducted multiple training the trainers courses. She firmly believes in the effectiveness of simulation as a tool for medical education and clinical training.
